Ready-to-drink kratom is the fastest-growing corner of the category — canned seltzers, extract shots, teas and tonics. It’s also where quality varies widest. Here’s the complete buyer’s guide.
What a Kratom Drink Actually Is
A kratom drink is Mitragyna speciosa leaf extract dissolved into a flavored liquid. Canned seltzers are typically 12oz with a standardised MIT load; extract shots concentrate a similar dose into 30ml. Either way the serving is fixed per container, which removes the measurement question entirely. All formats compared →
What to Look For
- Stated alkaloid content — milligrams of MIT per container, printed on the label. If it isn’t there, walk away.
- A COA per batch — not a single certificate reused for years. How to read one →
- Clean ingredients — no synthetic “research” compounds, no added stimulants.
- Sealed packaging with a real batch code and shelf date.
- Zero sugar and zero caffeine if you don’t want a crash stacked on top.
What to Avoid
- Drinks listing only “kratom extract” with no alkaloid numbers.
- Anything advertising “more than one active” — mystery stacks.
- Energy-drink hybrids: caffeine plus kratom is stacking two actives.
- Gas-station cans with no verifiable brand behind them. Vendor checks →
Seltzer vs Extract Shot
Seltzers are lower-concentration, better-tasting and easier to pace — you can drink half a can. Extract shots are smaller and more portable, but harsh and very easy to over-pour. For most buyers, and certainly for anyone new, a canned seltzer is the safer format.
